(9) Principle of Operation: Rotary Lobe Positive Displacement Blowers Synchronized by precision ground helical timimg gears, two symmetrical rotors rotate in an opposite direction without making contact. The medium to be conveyed is displaced in a positive manner from inlet to discharge via the chambers formed between the rotors and the housing. At the very moment the rotor tip clears the discharge, the volume of gas displaced is compressed by the backflow from the discharge end. Initially, the only screw compressors produced were oil-free machines with gears to time and prevent contact between rotors.
